We'll this place is known for one of the best roof tops in Chicago but I would say the food and service is equal. Nothing fancy but solid and even better the prices are more than fair. My companies office is across the street and they are one of the reason we chose to stay in the area.

Love the atmosphere and the decor! A great relaxing place! Upscale enough without the crazy prices!

[2011.07.14] - The rooftop is a nice hangout on a warm summer day. Bartender was nice and always around when you needed a drink.

Chill upscale sports bar with a great patio and rooftop deck. Haven't tried the food here, but the staff is super friendly and they have a great drink menu with more interesting, trendy mixers like Monster Rehab. The Pear Mule is a good choice - crisp and refreshing.

Citizen is a cool spot. Particularly cool for their outside and rooftop seating. It would be cooler if their outside food and drink menus were the same as inside. They've got great wings. If it's a nice day and your looking for outside seating, I'd suggest a reservation because it's a popular place and gets packed quick.

Great casual bar with a fantastic rooftop and patio. Good Mex-American fare and friendly bartenders. Definitely go when the roof bar is open.

I'm a fan of Citizen! I visited with a friend for one of the first days their rooftop was open and though it was busy, the staff immediately offered to grab stools out of storage to accommodate us. The bartender was sincere and perfectly attentive. The location is decent and scenery from the roof is gorgeous. We parked right outside the front door and just paid the meter a few bucks. This spot is a must for the summer!

Although we reserved a rooftop table days beforehand we were told it was too slow so the roof wasn't open when we arrived. Food and service were excellent, but one drink came out with lipstick marks on it, and my beer was served with a cheap plastic cup- no chilled glass. Overall, just meh. Probably wouldn't return.

This indoor/outdoor bar is the place to grab a drink in my neighborhood. Be prepared to have to wait for a table in the summer months as it gets very crowded. The prices are fair and the daily specials are great. ##30daychallenge #chicago

Being a Notre Dame bar, it is fatally flawed (BTFU!) but the service is great and the drink specials are definitely reasonable. The main draw to this place is the outdoor seating - notably the rooftop deck. Now that fall/winter has finally decided to show up, the rooftop deck may not be the best idea, unless you're bundled up and watching the skyline get blanketed.

Pretty good place to grab a drink during daytime or go for brunch. During weekends they have different dj's. There are two patios - one upstairs and another one on street level next to the building. They take reservations.

Visited Citizen Bar on Saturday during the long weekend. We arrived after midnight looking for food and hopes of sitting on the rooftop. Disappointed to find out that all patios and rooftops in Chicago close at 12 Midnight on weekends. Also the kitchen was not open. We decided to stay and have a beer downstairs. The crowd was younger and roudy. We found a table but were bumped into many times by passers by. We got a Guiness and a Stella which were served in clear solo cups. The Guiness was either a bad batch or had gone flat because it tasted horrible. The staff that was available were working very hard to please the crowd. Bathroom had all useful items available but was not clean. One thing I liked was the location and the building. Will not likely return.

Good outdoor space. Went on a Saturday afternoon and had no problem getting a table.

The food is consistently good...love the Duke Salad, Shrimp Tacos and the bowl-o-tots (tater tots). This is a great spot to grab lunch and is typically livelier during summer when the rooftop and patio are open. Main con would be the parking...meters and few lots are your options.

We had a lot of fun here. The food was ok but the atmosphere was great.

THIS is my spot! One of my favorite rooftops in the city and it has unobstructed views! The bartenders and servers here are all super fun and have great energy! The food is on-point too....order the buffalo chicken wrap with a side of wings!

Waited 10 minutes to order a drink. Waited 30 mins for wings before asking for a refund and leaving. Shame. The DJ was good at least, playing 90s hip hop and current rap n R&B to a young white crowd.

Citizen Bar is a pretty cool bar, with a great setup both inside and outside (they have a street level patio as well as a rooftop patio), however my experience there was only okay due to the wait staff. I will say that I'd give it another chance, as you never know what you're going to get with a waitress, as ours may have been having a bad day. Who knows. Not my place to judge. However she did forget to bring drinks that we ordered (but remembered them well enough to put them on the check). In fairness, she was kind enough to take them off the check without any argument.

Excellent place to visit in the summer! Their rooftop and deck are great fun.

It was super crowded, but I guess that can only mean good things. Was able to get beer easily despite the amount of people, good bartender situational awareness. I did not try the food

If you are looking for a great place to get together with friends or a great patio this is your place. If you are looking for quick service this is not your place. It has great food and is the best outdoor seating in the city.

Fun place with a great rooftop and food. Can get crowded on the weekends, but worth the wait. Typically a local crowd.

The downstairs is pretty plain-Jane...but the rooftop is sweet! I showed up for a group function and didn't leave the roof for hours. Sure there are higher rooftops with better views, but you still get sun, drinks, and fellowship at this one, so why not!?

Get a table outside. Enjoy the sunshine. Have fun.

Great rooftop bar in River North, and not as pretentious as some of the other rooftop bars in the area. Very laid back feel, even on the weekends. Friends and I were lucky enough to grab a table around 8:30 PM on a Saturday. I just ordered a gin and tonic, and it was sufficient. Also, the bartender was hot.

Great rooftop & large patio. For the warmer months this bar is always a good choice for outdoor drinks. The food is alright, but the atmosphere is what brings people back.What to order: The Corn ChowderTip: When they have to close the outdoor spaces around 12, make sure you have another plan b/c the inside is super small & gets packed fast once they put the kibosh on the outdoor spaces.

Nice bar. I can fully recommend their buffalo chicken wrap. It's the best wrap you can get in the area. Service can be hit or miss.

Love the roof terrace part of this bar. The bar is best during the spring and summer. The bar does get packed when the weather is nice but it is totally worth checking out. Drinks are pretty cheap for the area. Good on the weekends.

The tater tot ls are amazing. And try the chowder with the toast! Dip the toast. Sounds weird I know. But tastes amazing.

really cool outdoor patio on the rooftop - perfect for summer. The food is average and the drinks are too, but its a fun spot for locals or tourist. Great for bar hopping and especially planning a party!

I really liked their drinks and appetizers, very fun place.

This is a cool place to go if you get dressed up and get kinda swanky. Its also a fun place to go after you get done with work with your co-workers and just want to go and relax. The drinks were pricey, but you know that you also pay for the experience. The appetizers were tasty.

drinks are not too expensive, and the outdoor atmosphere is great. it's not loud, good place to catch up with a few friends

Good food and environment, but watch where you park on the street after 9pm. I always see tickets on cars because of the lack of proper signage showing the 15 minute parking zone after 9pm. Mainly west of the building.

Great neighborhood spot. Upscale bar food that is really good. Their rooftop area is the main attraction of the bar. Whenever the weather is nice, it is usually pretty popular with a good crowd.

Great atmosphere for a bar in River North. They have an awesome rooftop and great mac and cheese bites. Typical summer beer list. The night we were there for a happy hour, the service was not great; however they were packed. Overall, great location for a summer afternoon.
